Birthday Goodies with the Cricut

Hi all

Well I have finally gotten back in my craft room.  Yeah!!!  So we have a couple birthdays coming up so that is what I have been focused on in my craft room.  Today I have a couple items I made for a little girls birthday this weekend.  She is turning 4 and her Mom is throwing her a Princess tea party.  I decided to make her a t-shirt and a card, all Princess themes of course.  Here is the t-shirt:

I found this great t-shirt on clearance at Target.  I loved the sequins on the shoulders, and this little girls is very glamorous.  I used Expressions Vinyl heat transfer vinyl in white, purple, and pink.  The images and text are from Once Upon a Princess.  See my post here on how to cut the vinyl with the Cricut.  Here is the card I made:

Birthday Card with the Cricut

Hello there, I know its been a while since I posted.  I just got back this week from the long trip to my parents house.  We all had so much fun, especially the kiddos.  I am so glad to be back though, I missed my hubby and my craft room.  So tonight I am sharing a birthday card I made for a little girl turning 3.

Card Recipe:

• A2 sized card
• Birthday Birdie from Birthday Bash cut at 3"
• Number 3 from Birthday Bash cut at 1.2"
• Sentiment from My Pink Stamper Sweetest Cupcakes
• Pentouch Sakura White gel pen for faux stitching

Elmo Birthday T-Shirt with Cricut

Hope the week is finding you well.  We are still here with family.  It is amazing how much more time I have for blogging when I don't have my craft room to work in.  But that just means I get to share more of my projects with you.  So today I have a T-shirt I did for my husband's co-worker.  Her little boy is turning 1 soon and she wanted an Elmo birthday t-shirt for him.  So here is what I came up with:

 

So for this T-shirt I used a product that I am new to, Expressions Vinyl.  I ordered all the colors I needed of the heat transfer vinyl.  After watching some videos on their website, I quickly learned how to work with it and the Cricut.  I learned that the key is not to cut through the plastic transfer backing, only the vinyl.  This was done by setting my blade to 2, speed to medium and pressure to medium.  It was really easy to work with and I think this is my favorite t-shirt medium so far.  The one trick also is that you need to flip all your images.  This is easily done in CCR though.   Once the images are cut you just use your iron to transfer the vinyl to the t-shirt.  Here are the details on the cuts.

Rose Birthday Card with Cricut

Hi all, hope your week has been going great.  We are busy busy with summer!!  Also getting ready for father's day.  I think this is one of my girl's favorite days because they love their Daddy so much.  So my project for today is a card I made for a friend of mine.  She celebrated her birthday over the weekend and I wanted to make her a card for her special day.  I was having trouble coming up with an idea so I turned to some challenge blogs for inspiration.  I came across the Bitten by the Bug 2 challenge which is themed around roses and decided to go with it.

Card Recipe:

• Indie Art Roses cut at 3" and 4"

• Flourish Cuttlebug folder
• Frosted Lace stickles

I really love how the Cuttlebug folder kinda distressed the blue paper, gives it a little more dimension.  This card was pretty fast to put together.  That's what I love about the challenges, they can sometimes inspire my creations.   Hope you have enjoyed and thanks for stopping by.

Birthday Card with Imagine

Hi all

Wow it has been a fast week!!!  We have been busy doing summer cleaning and frolicking in fountains.  I have been doing some crafting, getting used to my new space.  So for today I have a birthday card I made for my brother.  I wanted something simple so I used the Just Because Cards cartridge.  I love this one because all the components of the card are there if you want to whip up a quick card.  So here it is:

So I don't really need to list a recipe for this card.  It is all the card and image features from Just Because Cards cut at 6".  That is what is cool about this cartridge, you cut everything at the same size and it works into a complete card.  I am entering this in the color challenge over at I came, I saw, I created.  You can find the color codes on the webpage linked.  And incidentally this is a cartridge that I won in another challenge on  Renee's site.  Thanks Renee!!!  So that is that, hope you all have a great weekend. 

A Bunny Birthday

Good evening all.  I hope your week has gotten off to a good start.  Ours has been really good.  I started the week by making a couple meals including enough breakfast burritos to last two weeks.  This week should be really easy with all this prep!!

So today I have a craft done for a good friend.  Her son's 2nd birthday was last week and she asked me to make a banner with the words " Some Bunny is Two".  I think the banner came out really great, one of the best ones that I have done.  I also wanted to do a card for the birthday boy in the same theme.  Below is what I came up with.

Banner Recipe:

• Font from Kate's ABC's cut at 2.5"
• Bunny from Kate's ABC's cut at 3.75"
• Circle banner from Birthday Bash cut at 6.25"
• Triangle banner from Birthday Bash cut at 6.35"

Card Recipe:

• Rabbit from Create-a-Critter cut at 6"
• Used the Craft Room to create two rabbits, one flipped horizontally and then both welded together
• Sentiment written with a brown calligraphy pen
• Card stock from DCWV stack

Grave Birthday Card

Hi all
Hey how are you all?  Hope your week is going well.  Almost to Friday!!!!  On Wednesday my hubby told me that he was taking a Birthday gift for a friend and was just shoving it into a bag with no card.  Of course I was appalled and promptly told him that he could not take that gift in without a card and I would make one.  Well since it is a friend and both he and my hubby are joksters I decided to make a funny birthday card.  His friend really isn't that old but I thought I would play it up with this card.

Catching Up on Crafting

I am excited and honored to be Rebecca's first guest blogger. "Thank you Rebecca!!" We have been friends for many years and have recently been able to find to time to craft together. I have loved to do all sorts of craft projects since I was a kid, but since having kids myself it's been hard to find time for any projects other than helping the kids get good and messy. Thankfully for me, Rebecca is a trooper about bringing her Cricut anywhere and everywhere. I am posting 3 different projects today. The first 2 used Rebecca's trusty Cricut and the last one I an including only because I think it's a cool idea to use for a range of holidays and events.

Project 1:
Birthday party Invitations. I have 3 children - now ages 6, 4 & 3. And all of their birth dates are within 28 days of each other. So this year we had 1 big circus. I created these adorable invites with the help of Rebecca's Cricut! Embellishments included glitter and felt and well as a few stickers.




Project 2:
On our cabin trip that Rebecca mentioned over the Labor Day weekend - I also created a few Back to School notes for the kids. They loved the cards! Going back to school... well, not so much!







And Project 3:
My mother's 60th birthday is coming up and I thought and thought about what to do and I finally came up with a party idea: Patricia is 6tea . And it will be a tea party. I found a tea cup pattern online, then covered real tea bags with cute coordinating paper. Then told guests to please not bring gifts, but if they couldn't resist to please pick up a mis-matched tea cup and saucer for her - putting their name on the bottom - in the end she'll have a full set but also able to recall who each set is from. I wanted to include this card because the idea could be used for a traditional tea party, a Mother's Day card, Get Well card, and any of the "tea" birthdays (20, 30, 40, etc.) so it has name applications.
